Last week, it was reported President Donald Trump allegedly referred to several nations as “s**thole countries” while he was discussing a deal with top lawmakers for recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, known as DACA.
The media have been obsessed with the story, as they have covered it extensively. The word “racist” has been thrown at Trump left and right, but many have come to his defense, including Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who said it was “unfair” to call him racist because Trump funded his mission trip to perform eye surgeries for those in need in Haiti back in 2015.
On Monday, Trump told reporters that Democrats did not want to cut a deal on DACA. Then, Trump said he was “not a racist” and that he was “the least racist person you will ever interview.”
Then, on Tuesday morning, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked about Trump’s comments, and her response absolutely obliterated the argument:
“Look, I think that it is an outrageous claim, and frankly, I think if the critics of the president were who he said he was, why did NBC give him a show for a decade on TV? Why did Chuck Schumer and all his colleagues come and beg Donald Trump for money?
If they are who they try to portray him as, why did they want to be with him for years and years in various activities, whether it was events and fundraisers and other things. I think it’s just an outrageous and ludicrous excuse, and they need to get on board and start actually doing what they were elected to do.”
